Ford correrá com Mustang na GT3

A Ford anunciou o retorno à categoria GT3, com o Mustang, para a temporada de 2024. O anúncio foi feito logo após a disputa das 24 Horas de Daytona, que ocorreu no último final de semana (29 e 30), vencida pelo brasileiro Hélio Castroneves.

O carro ainda não foi revelado, apenas um teaser foi divulgado com o bólido coberto. O único elemento que se pode notar é a asa traseira em estilo goose neck, que padrão no regulamento da categoria.

Sob o capô, o Mustang utilizará o mesmo V8 Coyote 5.0, utilizado nas versões de rua. Aspirado, o motor será preparado pela britânica M-Sport. Os números de desempenho não foram divulgados, mas os propulsores entregam de 500 a 600 cv.

“O Mustang nasceu para correr e estamos vibrando com a introdução do GT3 para competir lado a lado com alguns dos maiores fabricantes do mundo”, diz Mark Rushbrook, diretor global da Ford Performance Motorsports. “Com 58 anos de tradição nas corridas globais de endurance, estamos prontos para levar o Mustang a um novo nível global de performance.”

Para compor o time de pilotos, a Ford chamou Joey Hand. O californiano de 42 anos, venceu as 24 Horas de Le Mans, com o Ford GT na categoria LM GTE Pro, em 2016.

Pelo visto, a Ford está com fome bandeiradas. Já escalou Sébastien Loeb no WRC e agora o vencedor de Le Mans para correr na GT3.
