Ford terá táxi autônomo em 2022

A Ford se uniu às empresas Argo AI e Lyft para lançar um serviço de táxi autônomo nos Estados Unidos. A iniciativa faz parte da estratégia da Ford em avançar na tecnologia de carros totalmente autônomos, e terá na frota de táxi um laboratório para validar as tecnologias que chegarão ao mercado.

Os primeiros carros começarão a rodar em Miami (Flórida) e posteriormente em Austin (Texas). A fase piloto deverá contar com 1.000 unidades em circulação nos próximos cinco anos.

“Essa parceria é especial porque temos uma visão compartilhada de melhorar a segurança, o acesso e a acessibilidade do transporte em nossas cidades. Poderemos trabalhar juntos para definir onde um serviço autônomo vai beneficiar mais as comunidades e garantir que a tecnologia seja implantada com segurança”, afirma Bryan Salesky, fundador e CEO da Argo AI.

Para que a operação funcione, as três empresas criaram uma estrutura de suporte com abastecimento, manutenção e limpeza.

“A Argo e a Ford estão se preparando para ser a operação comercial de veículos autônomos presente em mais cidades e este novo acordo é um passo crucial em direção às operações comerciais completas, com a adição da rede de transporte de classe mundial da Lyft”, aponta Scott Griffith, CEO da Ford Veículos Autônomos e Negócios de Mobilidade.
