Fábrica de motores da VW completa 25 anos

A unidade de motores da Volkswagen de São Carlos (SP) acaba de completar 25 anos de operação. A fábrica inaugurada em 12 de outubro de 1996, já produziu mais de 12,5 milhões de propulsores.

Apenas na linha de motores TSI, a fábrica já produziu 2 milhões de unidades. Na unidade ainda são produzidos os motores EA111 e EA211, que equipam modelos como o Taos, Nivus, T-Cross, Virtus, Polo, Tiguan e Gol. Destes motores, 450 mil foram exportados para o México para serem instalados em veículos destinados ao mercado americano.

“Temos muito orgulho da história que estamos construindo na região. A nossa unidade abastece hoje tanto o mercado interno quanto externo, somando mais de 12,5 milhões de motores produzidos”, ressalta Cesar Drazul, plant manager da fábrica de São Carlos.

Segundo a VW, nesse quarto de século a fábrica passou por diversas expansões. Atualmente conta com 87 mil metros quadrados de área construída, que corresponde a 200% de ampliação desde a inauguração.
